Philosophy Miracle Worker Topbox review

I received this Philosophy Privé Box from Topbox.ca in the beginning of the summer. After a few tries I found that almost all 4 samples are a bit too rich for my skin in summer. Now it's time to give them a 2nd try.

This Philosophy box contains 4 products from its Miracle Worker line:

Miracle worker miraculous anti-aging lactic acid cleanser & mask, 1 oz., value $5.63
Miracle Worker Miraculous anti-aging retinoid eye repair, 2 ml, value $10.53
Miracle worker overnight age-resetting, anti-wrinkle moisturizer, 3.6ml, value $10.25
Miracle worker miraculous anti-aging concentrate, 7ml, value $10.23

The total value of this set is about $37 CAD (calculated using Canadian retail price).  A pretty good deal for the cost of $13.56, Topbox's current price per month. All the samples last at least one week and in hygienic containers (no packet, no jar). 10/10 for this Topbox.

Now the reviews of the products.

My skin profile: combination to dry, sensitive and slightly pigmented.

Miracle worker miraculous anti-aging lactic acid cleanser & mask

Miracle worker miraculous anti-aging lactic acid cleanser & mask

Product description:

Miracle worker miraculous anti-aging lactic acid cleanser & mask gently exfoliates with lactic acid as it completely cleanses and conditions for more radiant, youthful-looking skin. The formula features a lactic and amino acid complex to help brighten, even skin tone, and buffer the look of fine lines and wrinkles with less potential for irritation. The creamy formula completely removes surface dirt and oil while leaving skin feeling comfortable, and multitasks as a weekly brightening mask when left on the skin for 3-5 minutes.

8 oz. CAD$45

My experience: 10/10 (Gentle, effective, very good value)

This is my favorite product of the set. I use it in the morning as a cleanser and once a week as a mask. This non forming cleanser glides on easily thus I always give my face a quick massage before rinsing. My skin feels soft, smooth, moisturized and clean. Since I usually wear very little make up (tinted moisturizer, blush, mascara and lipstick), I gave it a try as makeup remover. Surprising not only it removes my mascara (Benefit They're Real) fairly thoroughly, and it does not irritate my eyes at all!  To score a perfect 10, the price is almost at the drugstore level (vs. The Body Shop Mask $18 for about 3.3 oz., Ren Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial $58 for 2.5 oz.) This is now on my shopping list and will certainly become my travel staple.

Miracle Worker Miraculous anti-aging retinoid eye repair

Miracle Worker Miraculous anti-aging retinoid eye repair

0.5 oz. / 15 ml CAD $79

My experience: 9/10

As with other eye creams, I use about a rice size amount of product in both morning  and night.  The cream applies smoothly on to the skin without developing small cysts, which my skin could easily develop when using the wrong products.  It gives a matte, velvety finish to my skin which is great for under makeup.  This is one of the few eye creams that I can actually see a significant improvement of my under eye dark circles within merely one week. At first, it causes some irritation when I use it at night. After talking to a beautician she suggests to apply eye cream only around the eye bones. Wow! For the days that my skin condition is good, I don't even need concealer! I've been using this sample tube for over 3 weeks and there's still product coming out!

The only down side is that this product is over my eye cream budget, but I have yet find another eye cream that works as well as this one....

Miracle worker miraculous anti-aging concentrate

Miracle worker miraculous anti-aging concentrate

Product description:

Miracle worker miraculous, anti-aging concentrate features breakthrough peptide technology that bolsters skins natural ability to self rejuvenate as it helps support natural collagen, resulting in increased firmness. Formulated with multiple antioxidants this hydrating, water-based gel helps protect the skin against free radical attack, and oil-free formula is appropriate for use under makeup, sunscreen or moisturizer.

0.95 oz. CAD$81

My experience: 8/10

It is a thick, water-based gel that applies smoothly on to the skin and set quickly into a light matte, velvety finish. Although I usually prefer moisturizers that give my skin a dewy look, this gel is perfect to use under makeup.

Miracle worker overnight age-resetting, anti-wrinkle moisturizer

Miracle worker overnight age-resetting, anti-wrinkle moisturizer

Product description:

Miracle worker overnight age-resetting, anti-wrinkle moisturizer works in perfect harmony with nighttime rejuvenation cycles to help visibly reset the age of your skin. It features a unique age-resetting complex and rare marine algae extract to help target age-accelerating proteins while powerful peptides and next-generation vitamin c help support natural collagen.

2 oz. CAD$82

My experience: 6/10

This is the product that I feel the least "Miracle" among the 4. Although my skin does feel soft and moisturized over night, for this price tag, I would like to see a bit more firming action on my skin, which makes this overnight moisturizer quite an average cream.   Furthermore, I am never a fan of product in a jar. Philosophy can pack the product in a tube for sampling, why not pack it in a pump bottle just like most of its products?!

Final words

Over all, I do like this line from Philosophy. My skin reacts very well with the cleanser/ mask and the rest of the products work on my skin in varies degrees. Most importantly the products are not irritating and almost fragrance free.  I would definitely recommend it for people with sensitive, but perhaps more combination-oily skin in particular the retinoid eye repair and the anti-aging concentrate.

Do you have a 10/10 skin care item?
